Fahnbulleh<\/a> says the Ministry of Local Government does not have the authority to unilaterally dissolve or abolish a city that was established by law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The down-to-earth Lawmaker said any attempt to alter the legal status of a city created through legislation must be grounded in proper legal authority and carried out in accordance with the constitutional process. PROBE NEWSPAPER REPORTS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bong County lawmaker said government institutions are required to operate within the limits of powers granted to them by law, arguing that administrative decisions cannot override legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He cited Chapter 2.16(c) of the Local Government Act of 2018 as the legal basis for his position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is fundamentally about respecting the rule of law and ensuring that every branch and institution of government remains within its lawful mandate,\u201d Fahnbulleh said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The District No. 7 representative stressed that changes to the legal status of a city should follow the procedures established by law rather than being effected solely through an administrative decision by a government ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His comments come amid discussions over the legal status and administration of cities in Liberia, raising broader questions about the respective powers of the central government, local authorities and the Legislature under the Local Government Act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GBARNGA, Bong County \u2014 Bong County Electoral District No. 7 Rep.
