President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung walk on slippery ground as Veterans and Disbanded Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia plan to petition the House of Representatives Over Retirement Benefits
The National Chairman of Veterans and Disbanded Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Capt. William Phillip Anderson, has called on members of the organization to assemble at the Samuel K. Doe Sports Stadium in Paynesville on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to discuss retirement benefits and other welfare concerns.
Capt. Anderson also instructed the organization’s spokesperson, Capt. Jerry Kerkulah Kollie, to announce the gathering, which is expected to provide members with updates on plans to petition the government through the National Legislature over their retirement entitlements.
According to the organization’s leadership, the proposed petition will seek 36 years of retroactive salary payments, a revised salary structure for veteran AFL soldiers, and amendments to the Veterans Act to establish a framework that would recognize them as a civilian workforce.
