Nimba Senator Pledges Support for Increased Budgetary Allocation to Bong County University

GBARNGA, Bong County, Oct. 9, 2026 — Nimba County Senator Nyan D. Twayeh has pledged to join Bong County Senators Hon. Prince Kermue Moye, Sr. and Johnny K. Kpehe in advocating for an increasement in the national budget for Bong County University (BCU).

Sen. Twayeh, a member of the Liberian Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, said increased funding would help strengthen the university’s administration and support its operations. PROBE NEWSPAPER REPORTS.

He made the commitment Friday while serving as a guest speaker at the inauguration of BCU’s third Student Union in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The senator’s pledge comes amid calls by the University President, Dr. Alfredson W. Taikerweyah, for increased government support to improve the institution’s operations and sustain its activities.

By committing to work with his Bong County colleagues, Twayeh said he would support efforts to secure additional budgetary resources for the university.

However, the proposed increase would depend on the outcome of the budgetary advocacy process and the government’s allocation decisions.

The inauguration of the third Student Union brought student leadership into focus, with the university’s administration and student representatives expected to work together to advance students’ interests and institutional development.
