Six-Tire Truck Carrying Marketgoers Crashes in Gbarnga

GBARNGA, Bong County — A six-tire truck carrying marketers returning from the regular Wednesday market in Foequelleh Town was reportedly involved in a road accident Wednesday along the Gbarnga-Ganta Highway in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The accident reportedly occurred opposite the residence of former Bong County Senator Dr. Henrique Flomo Tokpa.

Preliminary reports indicate that the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane, where the truck reportedly struck a motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist is said to have sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby health facility for medical treatment.

Passengers aboard the truck were reportedly in stable condition, with no serious injuries reported.

The Liberia National Police had not issued an official statement as of publication.

Further details, including the cause of the accident and the extent of damage, are expected as police continue their investigation.

The accident occurred a day after residents of Foequelleh reportedly cut down a historic cotton tree amid allegations linking the tree to witchcraft-related activities.
