BELLEMU TOWN, Bong County — Residents of Electoral District #4, Bong County, have petitioned Cllr. David Welonwulo Woah to contest the presidency of Liberia in the 2029 general and presidential elections.
The petition was presented Thursday, October 22, 2026, in Bellemu Town, Panta District, with residents, traditional elders, youth groups and market women calling on Woah to establish a political party and enter the presidential race.
Reading the petition, Joshua T. Gbarnah said Liberia needs leadership capable of addressing corruption, creating jobs for young people, strengthening education, revitalizing agriculture and promoting national reconciliation.
The petitioners also highlighted youth empowerment, care for elderly people and persons with disabilities, and accountability as key priorities for national development.
“We are with you; our hearts and souls are also with you,” the petitioners declared while pledging support for his presidential ambition.
In response, Cllr. Woah accepted the petition, declaring his intention to contest the presidency in 2029.
He said his decision followed consultations with his family and professional colleagues, as well as prayers for God’s guidance.
Cllr. Woah acknowledged that the journey would require sacrifice, discipline, perseverance, and public participation, emphasizing that no individual could transform Liberia without the contributions of its citizens.
