MONROVIA, Liberia — Nimba County Electoral District #5 Representative Kortor Sehwongbay Kwagru has questioned a US$32,265 receipt reportedly presented by the Minister of Agriculture to Kool FM, raising concerns about the payment date and the timeline for rice production and storage.
According to information shared by Rep. Kwagru, the receipt is dated July 15, 2022. The lawmaker questioned President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Agriculture Minister, why rice allegedly produced under the arrangement would have remained in storage until 2025.
“Are you seriously telling the public that you paid a cooperative in 2022 to produce rice, only for them to hold and store it until 2025?” Kwagru asked.
The lawmaker also claimed to possess documents that he believes provide evidence of corruption within the Ministry of Agriculture.
“I have complete documentation in my possession proving the corruption within your ministry,” he stated.
